Starting way back in the 80s, BMW developed a high performance iteration of their popular 5 series sedans; by 2013, the M5 was available with a twin-turbo 4.4L V8 that put out 553 hp and launched the car to 60 mph in a blistering 4.4 seconds. The M5 also features the kind of brakes and suspension you’d expect for such a strong performer, while turning in surprisingly decent fuel economy.
When you shop 2013 BMW M5 tires, be mindful that the M5 has different sizes for front and rear tires. We’d recommend high performance all season tires like the Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus, Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric A/S or Bridgestone Potenza RE980 AS thanks to their year-round traction, great road manners and handling and long wear (with treadwear warranty). Some ultra high performance and summer tire options would include the Michelin Pilot Super Sport, Continental ExtremeContact Sport and Pirelli P Zero. Just remember that summer and UHP tires use a softer, stickier tread formulation that enhances traction but will stiffen and lose grip in colder weather; these tires shouldn’t be used when it’s colder than about 45 degrees F.
