The Yokohama Geolandar X-MT tires receive predominantly positive reviews for their off-road performance and on-road manners.
The Yokohama Geolandar X-MT tires are highly regarded for their versatile performance both on and off-road. They offer a good balance of aggressive off-road capability with reasonable on-road manners, including lower noise levels than expected for a mud-terrain tire. While there are minor criticisms, the overall sentiment is very positive, with many users praising their performance in various terrains and weather conditions.
Positive highlights
Excellent off-road performance in various conditions including mud, snow, and rocks. Surprisingly quiet for an aggressive mud-terrain tire. Good traction and grip in both wet and dry conditions. Lightweight compared to some competitors. True to size measurements. Effective self-cleaning tread that prevents rock and gravel retention. Smooth ride quality, even at low air pressures. Attractive and aggressive appearance.
Negative highlights
Some users wish for slightly deeper tread depth. A few found the shoulder lugs could be more aggressive. One report of extremely fast wear.

I have a set mounted on my 2004 Ford Excursion. In the past I've used Nitto Mud Grapplers in the same size. So far these Yokohamas are better. The road noise is reduced on pavement and they don't dryrot within months of use.

Great all around tires. Light and narrow but not too skinny. Quiet on the road. Great offroad, especially on rocks. Clean out well. I run them at 9psi in front and 8psi in rear, they hook up on everything. They also measure very true to size. Only bigger 40" ive saw is the Nitto.
Two tiny gripes... I wish the tread depth was slighty deeper. And I wish the shoulder lugs were more aggressive.

I've been running the Geolandar X-MT tires for a couple thousand miles now. They are 40x13.5-17s on beadlock wheels. I run balancing rings but otherwise they have not been balanced and have no balancing issues. They run great and are not noisey. Awesome road manners and excellent grip off-road. I find myself on gravel/dirt roads regularly and I love how these tires have huge voids between the lugs. Chunks of rock and gravel do not get stuck between the lugs. (Rocks aren't getting ejected from the tires at 60mph!).
They have amazing grip off road in dry and wet conditions. Highly recommended
The Yokohama Geolandar X-MT is a mud-terrain tire specially made for hardcore rock-crawlers, providing relentless grip and performance, slow, even wear, and high traction to Jeeps, light trucks, and SUVs for scaling any terrain.
Features & Benefits
Mud-terrain tread
Black sidewall
Deep side blocks, a high void-to-lug ratio, and a triple-polymer tread compound provide the capability to conquer any terrain

Fortunately, mud-terrain tires like the Yokohama Geolandar X-MT can be used to visit such places with optimum traction and performance. While deep side blocks provide tremendous sidewall protection and help crawl through difficult terrain, the GEO-SHIELD construction gives strength to the tire for undertaking the above. A high-density, triple-polymer compound ensures slow and even wear, enabling you to use these tires for several miles. Additionally, you'll be pleasantly surprised by the low road noise here, made possible by the optimized tread pattern.
