The Federal Himalaya WS2 tires receive mixed reviews, with many users praising their performance in winter conditions, while others report issues with quality and handling.
The Federal Himalaya WS2 tires are generally well-regarded for their winter performance and value. Many users find them excellent in snow and ice conditions, particularly appreciating their traction and affordability compared to more expensive brands. However, there are concerns about quality control, with some users experiencing defects. Additionally, their performance on dry pavement is criticized by some, who report handling issues and a disconnected feel. Overall, these tires seem best suited for those prioritizing winter performance on a budget, but may not be ideal for those seeking a versatile all-season tire.
Positive highlights
Excellent performance on ice and snow. Great value for money compared to more expensive brands. Impressive traction in severe winter conditions. Quiet for studded tires. Good tread wear for the price.
Negative highlights
Noisy and rough ride for some users. Poor handling on dry pavement, with reports of disconnected feel and loss of traction. Squishy feeling in lanes and slow reaction in turns.

Excellent tires for weather in the Northeast
By far the best snow tires I have ever purchased. I have 4 studded tires on my 16 Camry as well as my 14 Highlander. I would also say they are the quietest studded tires I have ever driven on. I originally bought for my 14 Highlander and loved them so much. The ONLY downside is they probably make me too cocky in the snow because they handle snow and ice well. We have 1-2 foot storms on the regular and no problem. The last 3 foot storm we took the car out while still snowing and tried to get stuck, again, NO PROBLEM. Didn't buy from here but I use this site for info and reviews and wanted to leave a helpful one.

I love these tires
I had these tires on my 2013 Hyundai ELANTRA. I drove this 50 miles one way to work. I drove it in an ice storm and with 3 inches of snow on the road. These tires were awesome. Got me where I needed to go safely. Highly recommend them.

Worst tires I've ever owned on dry pavement. Car feels disconnected from the road, highway exits I used to take at 50mph trigger the low traction alert at 30 mph. Even staying below advertised safe speed signs on turns, my lost traction light comes on and slows the car. Car feels slow to react in turns and feels squishy in the lane. On grooved pavement the car vibrates and feels scary to drive. I've had these on for 5k miles and car wait to take them off and never put them back on. Every vehicle I have owned since 1999 has had snow tires in the winter and I've never had any tire as awful as these. I have Arctic Cat on my Suv and they are great, and these replaced general altimax arctic tires that were just wonderful. Will never recommend these tires to anyone who wants to feel in control of their vehicle. They do OK in snow, but on dry pavement I don't even feel comfortable driving the car, the same car I've driven 150k miles in since 2013...

Tires were a bit noisy with a rough feel on our 06 Malibu. Good tread. Think will do good once the snow flys. Overall a great price . I also bought two for my sons Impala.
Designed for use on sedans, the Himalaya WS2 from Federal Tires is a studdable winter tire that offers drivers increased stability and performance on cold, icy, slippery, or wet roads.
Features & Benefits
Winter tread design
Black sidewall
Can be pinned with studs for additional traction
Ice, slush, snow, and wet weather can make driving in the winter challenging, and colder temperatures often make it harder for tires to grip the road. Designed for use in winter weather, the Himalaya WS2 from Federal Tires was built to combat these elements and can be pinned with studs to further increase traction in lower temperatures. Wide grooves within the tread remove water from the road to reduce the risk of hydroplaning, and a zigzag tread design helps the Himalaya WS2 put more rubber on the road to enhance grip. Offering drivers a quiet ride, the Himalaya WS2's optimized design improves steering and snow traction.
Yes, Federal Himalaya WS2 tires are a good choice for drivers of sedans who want good traction and handling performance in winter weather at a great price. The Himalaya WS2 also offers drivers improved durability, better wet traction, and a quiet, comfortable ride.
Federal Himalaya WS2 tires are made by the Federal Corporation, who also makes Hero Tires.
No, Federal Himalaya WS2 tires cannot be used year-round. A winter tire, the Himalaya WS2 utilizes a flexible rubber compound that will quickly wear out when temperatures are consistently above 45 degrees Fahrenheit which could cause premature wear, blowout, or other tire failure.
Federal Himalaya WS2 tires could be made in Taiwan or China.
Yes, Federal Himalaya WS2 tires are directional. As a directional tire, the Himalaya WS2 must be rotated from back to front or from front to back.
No, Federal Himalaya WS2 tires are not noisy thanks to an optimized pattern design that reduces road noises and vibrations to create a quiet, comfortable ride for drivers and passengers.
